TO OUR COMRADES THAT USE THE VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM; We have been advised that the Erie VA will be closing the "intensive care unit" on 17, September. Also, the Emergency room will be closed and be an "Urgnt Care Center" and will only be open 0800 hrs. [8 am] to 2000 hrs. [8 pm]. Emergency Room treatment will be handled by your local hospitals. In an EMERGENCY call 911! Advise the EMT that YOU are a VA patient and to bill the VA. Tell the hospital ER admitting staff the same thing! Please let your next of kin know this information. It is important that they are informed to keep you from getting billed for the ambulance and hospital.
