Advocacy in the Civil & Criminal Settings
Legal
advocacy is also available to all victims of crime and abuse.
Advocacy is provided by trained personnel who can assist with preparation
and filing of a Protection from abuse petitions, provide accompaniment to
law enforcement agencies and hearings, and provide counseling, and support
with respect to custody and other legal issues. Services are
provided for all victims of violent crimes.
As
a comprehensive center serving victims of all crimes, the Crisis Center
provides information and referrals to resources designed to help victims
such as Crime Victim Compensation Programs and Victim/Witness Assistance
Programs.
Child Care is
provided by trained staff and/or volunteers. This service is limited
to those who need child care while attending court proceedings.
Transportation
is provided on a limited basis in emergency situations (i.e. medical/legal
emergencies, getting to court proceedings etc.). The need for
transportation services is determined on a case by case basis.
