Oil City First Presbyterian church is a warm, and open, fellowship of people who represent a wide range of ages, talents, and abilities. Located On one of the many Hills that over look the small town.
Nestled in a wooded rustic setting, The congregation is a result of a merger of two congregations in the late fifties. Since that time, a new church building was completed, and the open attitudes that
brought two churches together persisted to make First Presbyterian Church attractive to new members of the community who were looking for a church.

Historically, first Church has strongly supported missions at all levels. the session's community consciousness has led to its leadership role in ecumenical and social ministries. General Mission giving
through the Presbyterian Church (USA) has been established at 17% of the annual budget, and many members are active in the work of many community agencies, boards, and service clubs.

The internal life of the congregation demonstrates the same openness that is characteristic of its membership. There are active programs for every age group from the mid-week Preschool Program that
employs five part-time employees to the 55 up Club, a fellowship group for seniors. Other important groups and activities include: The Presbyterian Women and Circles, TLC (Jr-Sr High), Chancel Choir,
Bell Choirs, Deacons, Church School (all age groups and two adult classes),Confirmation Classes, Men's Prayer Breakfast and Presbyterian Men, noon and eveining Bible Study groups, and new member classes
for adults.
